Enyimba are still in the NPFL title race, says Azeez
Paul Aigobogun’s charges currently sit in the relegation zone, having played three games less, although Azeez feels they can still fight for the title
Abu Azeez has declared that he believes Enyimba FC are still in the title race despite currently being 12 points behind leaders Enugu Rangers in the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League campaign.
The People’s Elephants have had a tough start to the league season but they have been impressive in the CAF Champions League .
However, the Super Sand Eagles star is optimistic that they can rediscover the kind of form that saw them win the league title in the 2015 campaign.
“I hope that after a bad start to the campaign that we can win the NPFL title again,” Azeez told Goal.
“It’s a personal challenge which I think is possible because Enyimba have the best squad in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
“We’ve been unlucky in the league and although we are 12 points behind Rangers with four games in hand, we can do it.
“I want to enjoy the rest of the season and would love to retain the title we won in 2015.”
Enyimba, bossed by Paul Aigbogun, continue their NPFL campaign on Sunday in a local derby against an impressive Abia Warriors side who are currently second in the table.
