BREAKING: Nigeria’s Super Eagles team gets new captain

Nigerian International player, John Mikel Obi has been named as the new captain for Nigeria’s national team.

The Chelsea midfielder spoke of his “huge honour” at being handed mantle by Ahmed Musa, while the CSKA striker becomes vice-captain.

Previously, he was widely tipped to take over from Vincent Enyeama who quit the national team following sometime last year but Ahmed Musa was handed the armband instead untill today when the interim boss, Samson Siasia, at a press conference in Kaduna on today, upturned the table for Mikel to get the captain’s armband ahead of the crucial game against the Pharaohs of Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.

  1. nice one for mikel hê deserves it as the longest serving member of the super Eagles with over 70caps and even a better one from the boss samson siasia for having the guts to what is right.
