Watford are said to be preparing for Odion Ighalo’s exit by lining up a move for Granada striker Isaac Success. La Liga club Granada is controlled by Hornets supremo Gino Pozzo, making a deal likely. The former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker moved to the Red Devils at the same time the France international left Lyon, and stated he was Sir Alex Ferguson’s preferred choice
Michael Owen has confessed that current Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was Manchester United’s first choice striker target prior to signing the former England international.
Owen spent three years under Sir Alex Ferguson at the Premier League giants, in an injury-plagued spell between 2009 and 2012.
But the ex-Liverpool star admits that Benzema was Ferguson’s preferred target at the time of his transfer.
“I was just saying before the show that he’s my favourite player and one of the lads said, ‘Why’s that?’ and it’s because Benzema was Manchester United’s first choice before I signed for them,” Owen told BT Sport.
